Japanese 1 にほんごいち
Hajimemashite はじめまして
はじめまして。わたしわミクレイシです。あめりかじんです。じゅななさい。どぞよろしくおねがいします!
Hello and welcome to my Japanese 1 page! After a certain amount of debate I decided that I should add this page to my DP as well, despite starting late and despite these classes being taken at Grace Preparatory Academy rather than Animas. I've always been absolutely fascinated with Japanese culture and have been teaching myself for the past couple of years. However, I have a long way to go and there are many things you can learn in a classroom that are much harder to learn on your own. Therefore, in addition to regular classes I have added this class to my schedule. We won't have a lot of projects but I will still do my best to update whenever an update is required.

School Restaurant: レストランがっこう
Our next project in Japanese, we're creating our own restaurants and learning all of the vocabulary associated with doing so. This project involve the creation of a menu, order forms, and money お金. We will spend time working on the vocabulary necessary to be a customer, host, and chef before acting out our restaurants with our teacher. I'm very excited for this project because it's very creative and will be very helpful in the long run if we ever need to order in Japanese!

Presentation Project: Geisha 芸者
For this project, we each chose a subject to research and then create a 15 minute presentation on. Some of the subjects chosen were sword making, kimonos, native celebrations (and their traditional foods), and anime. We have been given a great deal of time in which to do this and have the choice to give the presentation in English with special Japanese vocab pertaining to our research or give the presentation in Japanese. However, because this is a 15 minute long presentation I will likely be giving it in English unless I suddenly find an abundance of time on my hands. I'm very excited about this and will write more about it as I learn more.

The Presentation: Geisha 芸者
Overall, I feel that this presentation went fairly well. It was fun to research and learn so much about the lives of geisha, because there's so much to learn! It seemed like every time I learned something new, there was another thing to learn about too, like the furisode 振袖 kimono is a kimono with sleeves so long that special sandals called okobo おこぼ must be worn. Honestly, I'm pretty sure I'd break my neck trying these! Obviously, Wikipedia isn't the best site to look at but it will give you a general idea.
